Washington Local Actions:
We usually rally weekly on Saturdays from 3:00-4:00pm in Wenatchee Memorial Park, but not always! Sometimes we have cultural appreciation events, movie screenings, alternative protest actions, or organizational meetings instead. Join our Newsletter and Signal Group for up to date notifications regarding our events.
A time-sensitive call to action on an important issue: click here to submit a comment on HB 1038 to oppose this bill banning gender affirming care for kids! Trans healthcare saves lives; this will kill kids. If you live in Washington state, please take a moment to submit a comment.
We’d also like to get input from our community on our strategy from here! Going forward, we seek to strengthen our connections with local groups fighting for immigrant, LGBTQ+, and abortion rights. And we want to hear from YOU: please fill out our survey so that we can continue building together towards freedom for ALL in a way that makes sense for our Wenatchee-area community.
Know Your Rights for immigrants and allies in Washington
As everywhere, DO NOT TALK TO THE COPS. If ICE or another law enforcement agency shows up at your door, DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR. If arrested, say you want to speak to a lawyer.
Save the contact info for your local NWIRP office and the WAISN hotline: 844-724-3737. NWIRP is Northwest Immigrant Rights Project & WAISN is Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network. There are other more local organizations but these both operate throughout so-called Washington. In WA we also have Keep Washington Working & Courts Open to All, which protect immigrant communities.
Under Courts Open to All, judges, court staff, etc. can’t provide info to immigration officials. Immigration officials can’t arrest on the way to or at courthouse without a COURT ORDER. Here, it’s important to know the difference between an “administrative warrant” and a “judicial warrant”. You should know that an administrative warrant, which is almost always what ICE has, DOES NOT give them the right to enter your home without permission. Here is a good resource on this. Also what’s been REALLY working for people lately is NOT OPENING THE DOOR – have them slide warrant under door or show through window.
Everyone can benefit from watching NWIRP’s November 2024 webinar. You can find many more Know Your Rights resources relevant to immigrants, defenders & allies here.
(This is as good a time as any to note that we’re using allies intentionally despite the meaningful critiques of allyship because of the implications of “accomplice”/“co-conspirator” in this context of criminalization of immigrants.)
Community can help by donating time, money, and resources to immigrant defenders. WAISN runs volunteer trainings. The more of us are informed, the better. We can fight together for immigrant justice!

Encourage WA lawmakers to call for an arms embargo and for humanitarian aid

We finally have a ceasefire! For now, at least.
Our other demands remain important:
We demand 1) humanitarian aid be allowed to enter Gaza, including reinstating funding to UNRWA, 2) no more weapons or funding to the Israeli military, and 3) an end to Israel’s occupation of Palestine.
Even with a ceasefire agreement, there will be no lasting peace as long as the U.S. government continues to supply weapons to Israel, so we must push our lawmakers to abide by our country’s own laws and enact an arms embargo, and we must continue to fight for Palestine until it is truly free. We must also stay vigilant against any laws that are intended to make it harder or more dangerous to protest or criticize Israel.
Have you contacted your lawmakers yet today? If not, please take the opportunity to do so now!
You have several options. Please do at least one of these things:
You can call all of them at once at this website. A script is provided that you can read off of if you don’t know what to say.
If you’d prefer to call them individually, here is Maria Cantwell’s contact information (she doesn’t have a Wenatchee office), here is Senator Murray’s contact information (she also does not have a Wenatchee office), and here is Kim Schrier’s contact information (
(509) 850-5340 is the phone number for her Wenatchee District Office. Ruby told us she receives a lot of calls from a small number of people, so if you’ve never called, please take the opportunity to do so now!).
You can also call the White House comment line at (202) 456-1111!
You can send a message to your representatives here. It provides a message for you that you can use, though it’s generally best if you personalize it.
If you’d prefer to email them individually, you can email Senator Cantwell here, can email Senator Murray here, and can email Representative Schrier here. You can also email the White House here.
You don’t need to own a fax machine to fax your representatives! You can send a fax for free here. You can send up to 5 faxes a day, which is more than enough to contact your representatives.
Faxes are delivered to the member’s office instantly (unlike letters), and sending a fax shows that you sat down and hand wrote your letter. If you don’t want to call, faxing is likely a more effective means of communication than emailing.
Kim Schrier is unfortunately not accepting faxes, but Maria Cantwell is! You can get the fax numbers for Senator Cantwell’s various offices here, and the fax numbers for Senator Murray’s offices here. You can also use this to send either senator a fax.
Boycott/Divest — yes, the boycott is still on!

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement works to end international support for Israel’s oppression of Palestinians and pressure Israel to comply with international law. Please take a moment to look at this list of companies that the BDS movement is currently targeting and make an effort to avoid purchasing their products as much as possible.
Participating in BDS just got easier! They recently announced a partnership with the Boycat app, which allows you to check regularly updated BDS targets, scan products, learn about companies, build your ethical shopping profile, join local teams and directly support BDS’s priority campaigns, ensuring your purchasing decisions contribute to a larger movement for justice.
The BDS movement also recently updated their priority targets, pressure targets and organic campaign targets. There’s more information on the reasoning behind each of them on instagram. Make sure you familiarize yourself with the new list!
